Hogs, Bows, and the Urgency of the Gospel

Posted by Michael Wood on

I’m getting ready for deer season. It’s not too far away. But I have a problem. Where I am hunting, hogs are running wild. If you’re getting ready for hunting season, you may be seeing and experiencing the same problem I am.

So, I’ve decided that I’m going to take some action. I’m going to go hog hunting to get ready for deer season.

In the past couple of seasons, I’ve fallen in love with bow hunting. I was talking about this problem the other day with our video producer, Craig. He loves to hunt as much as I do. He’s also filmed many hunting trips and shows that have been seen nationally. He offered the other day to take video for me as I try to kill a hog.  I AM EXCITED. I knew I had a problem and needed to fix it. But now that we are going to take it up a notch, I am anticipating it more than I probably ever would.

At times, if we are not careful, we can forget about the goodness of God in the reward He provides. We can forget that the grace of God and the faith we have in Him brings a promise of Heaven.

While seeking sanctification is crucial, we must remember that God provides for us the high reward of heaven. We anticipate it.

What does that hope do for you? Does it give you hope? Security? Joy? Peace?  All of those things are great. But I hope it also gives you a feeling of urgency.

The promise of heaven and the anticipation it brings should drive us to share the Gospel.

You may remember early this year when we introduced the 1x3 challenge. This challenge is still in full effect. Many of you have been faithful in your commitment to sharing your story with one person with the hopes that they would accept Christ as their Savior.

There are still so many people who are in need of the Gospel. We must be faithful in sharing our faith. We must share with the anticipation of the hope of heaven.

I love this quote from Charles Spurgeon. There are no crown-wearers in heaven who were not cross-bearers here below.

I hope and pray we’ll be faithful in our sharing of the Gospel while we anticipate the hope of heaven.

Here are a few things I want to remind you of.

Our team has created a resource for you for the 1x3 challenge. It’s found on our RightNow Media Channel. Need help getting access?
