Blog - Stirred into action

Stirred into action

Posted by Michael Wood on

We spent time looking at Nehemiah 8 this week. We’ve been looking at this idea of “Arise & Build.” It’s God’s heart for us to go and share and respond to God’s Word.

You may begin to hear about “1 story. 1 verse. 1 person.” It’s our evangelism strategy that we are tying to this sermon series.

Everyone has a story. Sharing your story of what God has done in your life is a great starting point. But then, the conversation should take a turn towards the Gospel.

I believe that there are several passages that can be used to explain the Gospel, but let’s commit to learning one.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

You can share the Gospel by using this verse. I want you to learn this picture so that you could draw it out on a napkin.

As you can see in this picture, there are two columns. On one side, you see that the payment of sin is death. It separates us from God. But through Jesus Christ, we can have access to God because of the free gift He provides. That gift is eternal life.

As we talked about Sunday, I hope this passage will move you into action. I pray that you will begin to pray for the person who is far from God. This person needs Jesus. And your movement could be what pulls them to Christ.

God is calling us to spread the Gospel. What are you doing to allow the Word of God to move you?
