Why are we even doing SPIN Weekend?

Posted by Chris Trombatore on

SPIN Weekend is coming, and I am excited and expectant about what God is going to do. Since Lead Pastor Michael Wood, envisioned this event, it has grown, and we are ready for your students to attend. We have space for them.

We have prayed and dreamed big things. We believe God has something for 700-plus students this year. Does our event hinge on this number? No. But we believe that Jesus has something for the students of Northeast Louisiana.

But you may ask yourself, “Why do we even do SPIN Weekend?” Here are three reasons why.

Elevate Jesus

SPIN Weekend is an opportunity for students 6-12 grade to come and worship God. Thursday night through Sunday morning, we devote a significant amount of time to sing about, gather around, and glorify the name of Jesus. It’s in moments like those where we often see God start to move in His people. We come together to magnify and exalt God by singing praises to Him. We are loud when we sing because He is loud in our lives. We want to let everyone around us know that we unashamedly proclaim the truth of Christ in our lives.

Our aim it to make much of Jesus, laying our agendas and ourselves down for the renown of His Name! Together with the loud praise of His people, we sit expectantly as we listen for God to move in our lives and hearts.

Through the preaching, teaching, and applying of His Word, we worship God as well. We don’t come together merely to sing songs, but more than that…WE COME TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE GOD MOVE through the power of His Word.

Embrace Community

Another vital part of SPIN is our groups. A sense of Christ-centered community is essential to the Body of Christ and particularly for us at SPIN. We want to see people doing life together. Community is accomplished when 70 or so groups of 10-14 students share close quarters for two nights in Host Homes around our area as they unpack the Word of God together.

As groups spend the first few minutes and hours together, the awkwardness dissipates and real community takes place. It’s here we often hear the stories of how God takes our students deeper and challenges them to go after the next step in their faith walk.
We believe this happens because students are surrounded by meaningful community and by people that genuinely care about them.

Equip the Church

As students worship together led by the band and the speaker and as they take part in Biblical community and grow closer together to their peers and leaders, we believe God begins to equip and tool the church for His glory. As students are challenged to live out their faith and as they stand by one another, we know that God is preparing us to serve the Body of Christ and to reach a lost and dying world.

God desires to use this generation for the expansion of he Gospel. We believe we have a part to play in the greatest story in history. SPIN Weekend is and will continue to be a tool God uses to magnify His name, to bring His church together, and “to see to it that NO ONE misses the grace of God.”

There is still space for your student to sign up. Learn more about the event and download the parent pack on our event page.

Would you pray for SPIN? Believe with us that God is going to do a great work.
