Giving

Giving is one of the central themes in the Bible. Jesus taught even more on this subject than He did on prayer or heaven! To understand what it means to be a follower of Christ, we must also understand what it means to give.

First Things First…
God already owns it everything. But the Lord still instructs us to tithe our income. When we willingly set aside our resources for the local church, our hearts are turned toward him in worship. (Matthew 6:21)

Know Giving, Know Life…
Giving is an adventure! The Bible says that by giving generously we are able to "take hold of the life that is truly life." You aren't really living unless you are freely giving. (1 Timothy 6:19)

The Treasure Test…
Giving is the only area in the Bible where God invites us to test Him. In the Bible, the Lord challenges us to give our tithe (the first 10% of your income) to God and see if He does not open the floodgates of heaven to bless you in ways that you never dreamed possible. (Malachi 3:10)

An Eternal Investment…
Our church is in the business of changing lives. By introducing people to the life-changing message of Jesus, we are beginning to see the transformation of our community and world. By giving, you can leverage your money for eternity (1 Timothy 6:7). Most of us in this country have enjoyed the blessings that God has us. But with that great blessing comes a responsibility to be generous and to be willing to share.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life but what we give. As missional Christians, we need to model that balance. "Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the ability to produce wealth." (Deuteronomy 8:18)

What is Tithing?
"Tithing" is a biblical term meaning "to give a tenth part." A tithe is ten percent of your income and an offering is anything you give in addition to your tithe. We tithe not because we feel like it but because God commands it. Tithing not only funds the mission of our wonderful church as we invest in peoples' lives, but also reminds us that everything we have comes to us from God. In gratefulness we worship by giving to the Lord's work!
